[October 31, 2007]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis accepting nominations for board members

A nominating committee has been appointed and empowered by the board of directors of The Oasis to present candidates to serve on the board for a three-year term. Members wishing to present a candidate's name for consideration must do so in writing, hand-delivered to The Oasis or postmarked by Nov. 1. The nominating committee will review each candidate prior to presenting a slate of nominees for 2008.

Hearing screening

The Oasis will have free hearing checks Nov. 7 between 10 a.m. and noon. To schedule an appointment, please call 732-6132.

Winners announced

Larry Van Bibber and Helen Cart were weekday pinochle winners. Weekend pinochle winners were Bonnie Schulmeister, Joyce Voyles, Ann Hedrick and Linda Hughes. Winners at five-in-one were Ella Lee Graney, Ruth Barry and Linda Hughes. Congratulations.
