LJHS hosts baseball triangular          Send a link to a friend

[September 04, 2007]  The Trojans hosted a triangular event over the weekend with Maroa-Forsyth and Rochester.

The Trojans faced Maroa in the first game. Austin Kirby started on the hill for the Trojans, going the first three innings, and Will Conrady pitched the fourth inning. The Trojans beat Maroa 16-1.

Ryan Sloan was 2-for-4; Tyler Horchem 1-for-1 with two walks; Ryan Montcalm was 2-for-3; Austin Kirby was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple; and Trace Splain was 1-for-1 and hit by a pitch.

After Rochester beat Maroa in the second game, the Trojans got their chance at the Rochester Rockets. Montcalm took the mound for the Trojans and went the distance, striking out 11 and giving up no earned runs. The Trojans went on to beat Rochester 4-1.

Sloan was 1-for-3 with a run scored; Horchem was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and an RBI; Montcalm was 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI; Halen Sampson was 2-for-3 with an RBI; and Splain was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored.

Next game for the Trojans is Tuesday versus Olympia.
