Man dies in nighttime car-bicycle accident          Send a link to a friend

[September 04, 2007]  An accident about one mile north of Lincoln Parkway on 1250th Avenue and Nicholson Road claimed the life of Jason Robert Brown, 25, of Lincoln.

Brown was northbound on a bicycle near Camp-A-While at approximately 10:20 p.m. Friday. He lived on 1235th Avenue.

A car driven by a rural Lincoln 16-year-old, also northbound, struck him. She escaped serious injury.

There was also a car southbound that probably did not play a factor in the incident, Sheriff Steve Nichols said.

Brown was an employee of the Lincoln College maintenance department and he detasseled corn.

No citations or charges are expected to be filed. "We are treating this as an unfortunate and very tragic accident," Nichols said.

Illinois State Police accident reconstructionists are investigating.
