$6.25
million dormitory, Ruth Hall, named and dedicated for women of faith
[September 05, 2007]
Ruth, at the beginning, was a
pagan, living in a country that was an enemy of Israel. "So what is
she doing with a book of the Bible and a dorm on LCC campus named
after her?" Dinelle Frankland comically questioned. Frankland was
keynote speaker at Tuesday morning's dedication service in the
chapel of Lincoln Christian College and Seminary.

In addition to the dedication, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours
were conducted. Bobbi Abbott, the director of the Lincoln/Logan
Chamber of Commerce, showed her support in the project as she held
the ribbon to be cut by Keith Ray, president of the college and
seminary. Ray thanked several members of the community, including
Mayor Beth Davis, Abbott, the Logan County Board, Logan County Bank
and the P.J. construction crew.
The building, costing $6.25 million, is the largest and most
expensive building on campus.
Currently, there are over 1,000 students who call Lincoln
Christian College and Seminary their academic home.
Frankland's powerful message was entitled "A Theology of Ruth."
Theology, she noted, is an attempt to comprehend an incomprehensible
God. She then dove into the long lineage of women in the Bible and
their personal theologies that then led them to do amazing things.
She said that Ruth became a strong Biblical woman because of her
faith, in a faithful God. This can be seen in Ruth 1:16: "Where you
go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my
people and your God my God." She leaves her past behind to live with
a family that is not her own and to serve a God who is not her own.
Frankland wrapped up her speech by asking the question: What does
Ruth have to do with a dorm?

The dormitory was built because the school believes in sending out
servant leaders all over the world. The school has great hope that,
like Ruth, the women who dwell in Ruth Hall will be known everywhere
as women of noble character who love and trust the Lord. This
requires obedience and allegiance to the Lord. He is a lamb, but
also a roaring lion, who has proven himself faithful, so those who
follow him can be faithful as well, Frankland said.
The dorm that is to house these faithful women was named after
the biblical Ruth and Ruth Ensiminger, whose generous donation
helped to build Ruth Hall. Ensiminger's personal motto is "Use it
up, wear it out, make it do, or do without." Her personal sacrifice
made it possible for hundreds of girls to inhabit Ruth Hall.
