Intoxicated driver injured in early morning crash near Broadwell          Send a link to a friend

[September 22, 2007]  SPRINGFIELD -- A Chicago man suffered injuries when he lost control of his vehicle on Interstate 55 near mile marker 119 early Friday morning. Lornell D. Roberson was southbound at approximately 3:50 a.m. when his gold 1998 Dodge Avenger traveled across all three southbound lanes, entered a ditch west of the roadway and stuck several small trees.

Roberson was transported to St. John's Hospital in Springfield with non-life-threatening injuries.

He was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while license revoked, improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcohol and no insurance.

Agencies assisting the Illinois State Police and Logan County Sheriff's Department were the Lincoln Rural Fire Department and Logan County Paramedic Association.

The public is reminded that all are presumed innocent until charges are proven in a court of law.
