BLOOMINGTON -- The Williamsville
Bee Bees junior high softball team finished their season in third
place at the state tournament this weekend in Bloomington. They won
Friday afternoon 1-0 to advance to the final four. Saturday they
lost to the eventual champion, Metamora Grade School, 2-0. They came
back and won the third-place game 6-2 over Edwardsville Lincoln,
last year’s champs. "I think for the most part, after it all sank
in, they are very pleased with their third-place finish," said Mark
Havrilka. "The last two times Williamsville Junior High had made it
to the state, they lost in their first game, so this is an
improvement."
Williamsville finished the season 31-2.
