[April 03, 2008]  CHICAGO -- Statement from Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna on the House passage of the recall amendment:

"Allowing Illinoisans to recall their elected officials is the first in a series of reforms that are sorely needed throughout government, including passage of the ethics package stalled by Rod Blagojevich and his Democrat allies in the state Senate.

"The Illinois Republican Party has been pushing a reform agenda including passage of a recall amendment for more than a year throughout the entire state.

"I sincerely hope the Senate will follow course and pass this legislation."
