Seasonal Weight Limits on Logan County Highways

Send a link to a friend

[April 08, 2008]  Hauling will once again be permitted on Logan County highways. These roads are marked with five-sided blue signs and have the weight limit signs posted. Permits will still be required until April 18. Anyone needing to haul loads in excess of the posted weight limits will need a permit. Maximum legal load on Logan County highways is 73,280 pounds.

Permits are available at the highway department office, 529 S. McLean St., Lincoln, IL 62656; or by calling 217-732-3059. The permit can also be printed off the Web at www.co.logan.il.us/highwaydept. There is no charge for these permits.

Hauling on township roads will still need to be coordinated with the respective township road commissioner.

The highway department would like to thank everyone who cooperated with the seasonal weight limits. Roads have experienced a lot of damage this past winter. Repairing this damage is expensive. Keeping heavy traffic off these roads for a few weeks each year helps stretch our tax dollars and protect our roads.
