Oasis Update

[April 09, 2008]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis potluck

Join us at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for the monthly potluck, featuring meatloaf, special dishes, salads and wonderful desserts. There is no charge for food or beverage provided at this event. If you do not bring a dish to pass and wish to make a donation, the suggested amount is $3. We will have entertainment and a special guest speaker. Stay for bingo, sponsored by Christian Village. The monthly lunch drawing is for Peggy's Place.

Blood pressure

The Oasis offers free blood pressure checks every Friday between 10 and 11:30 a.m.

Book club

The senior center's book club will meet on Monday, beginning at 1 p.m. This club rekindles the rewards of reading a book and either sharing your thoughts with the group or just sitting back and listening. Refreshments provided.

Foot care

The Oasis offers foot care by Emma VanDyke, R.N. The cost is $8, by appointment only. Please call 732-6132.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for April 15 will feature Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, peas, bread and butter, and dessert. The cost of the meal is $3.75; or, if you stay and play cards, the meal is $3.25. The deadline to make reservations is Monday noon.

Bingo at the Rec

The computer special for Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Rec Center is "Odd or Even." Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird is 6:50 p.m.
