 Lance Coleman, 46, of Racine, posed as Robert Greenberg, chief executive officer of Skechers Inc., to order computer and other equipment from Dell Inc., according to court documents.
Coleman pleaded guilty Wednesday to scheming to defraud using the telephone and Internet. A plea agreement calls for him to pay a special assessment of $100 and restitution of about $101,100 before or at his sentencing on July 11.
He called Dell on Dec. 14, presented himself as Greenberg and said Skechers was relocating to an address that matched Coleman's apartment, court documents said. Coleman provided Skechers' tax identification number and ordered computers and televisions worth about $44,000.
He followed up with phone calls and e-mail.
A suspicious Dell employee got in touch with his normal contact at Skechers, who said the order was fake. Coleman also had misspelled Greenberg's and the company's names.
On Dec. 20, he sent an e-mail purchase order from "Greenberg" for about $47,300.
Coleman sent e-mails checking on the status of his order until Jan. 7, when Dell shipped a package resembling a computer box to his apartment. An FBI agent posing as a delivery man saw Coleman sign Greenberg's name for the package.
