[April 18, 2008]  SPRINGFIELD -- A 29-year-old Emden man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash that occurred at 1:24 p.m. Thursday.

Dean Lowe was driving a black 2008 Yamaha motorcycle. He was traveling westbound on U.S. 136, approaching County Road 500.

John M. Todd was also westbound on U.S. 136. He was driving a white 1987 International straight truck pulling a tank trailer. Todd stopped to make a left turn onto County Road 500.

The motorcycle and Lowe slid underneath the truck and were struck by the truck as the truck entered the county road.

Lowe was not wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Logan County coroner.
