graduate initiated into prestigious honor society

MACOMB -- Danielle Schilling, a 2006 graduate
of Lincoln Community High School, has been tapped for membership in
Mortar Board, a prominent national honor society for college
seniors.

Schilling is majoring in law enforcement and justice administration
and holds minors in both sociology and homeland security at Western
Illinois University, from which she plans to graduate in May 2009.
In addition to her membership in Mortar Board, she is also involved
in the Western Anthropology and Sociology Club, Delta Zeta sorority,
and Lambda Alpha Epsilon American Criminal Justice Association. She
also serves as the public relations chair for the Panhellenic
Council and will be a student orientation staff leader this fall.
One of her numerous accomplishments is being named a member of
Rho Lambda, the National Sorority Leadership Recognition Society.
She is the daughter of Angie Schilling and Mike Hedrick, and
Steve and Christine Schilling, all of Lincoln; and granddaughter of
Jim and Carol Kiel of Lincoln and Gerald Schilling of Belleville.

Mortar Board is a prestigious national honor society that
recognizes college seniors for outstanding achievement in
scholarship, leadership and service. Since its founding in 1918, the
organization has grown from four founding chapters to 225 chartered
collegiate and 25 active alumni chapters with nearly a quarter of a
million initiated members across the nation. The Arista chapter at
Western Illinois University was chartered in 1976.
Mortar Board provides opportunities for continued leadership
development, promotes service to colleges and universities, and
encourages lifelong contributions to the global community. Some
notable Mortar Board members include former President Jimmy Carter,
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Lance Armstrong and former
