Isolated showers and
thunderstorms can be expected across the Interstate 55 corridor the
rest of the afternoon and will be most numerous between Bloomington
and Peoria. An area of strong to severe thunderstorms is located
across far western Illinois at 4 p.m. and will push east. These are
expected to reach the Illinois River around 5 p.m. and will be
capable of producing hail up to quarter size, frequent heavy rain
and wind gusts over 60 mph. A few tornadoes would not be out of the
question. It would probably take until toward 7 p.m. before these
storms reach the I-55 corridor.
[April 25, 2008]A cold front will move into the
region Friday evening. This front will trigger thunderstorms along
and ahead of it, moving into the region Friday afternoon and
evening. Some storms will possibly be severe, with large hail and
damaging winds as the main threat with the storms as they pass.
