School registration Thursday at Middletown

[August 06, 2008]  MIDDLETOWN -- Registration for students in grades K-8 at Middletown will be on Thursday from noon to 6 p.m.

There will be a district workshop for all teachers on Aug. 15, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Opening day will be Aug. 18. School that day will begin at 8:10 a.m. and dismissal will be at 2 p.m. Rural bus schedules will be as close to the same as last year as possible. Parents should allow a 10-minute deviation from the projected schedule.

Registration fees

  • Book rental, grades K-8 -- $50

  • Insurance fees -- The school district has purchased student accident insurance for all students enrolled at NH-M. Students participating in sports or cheerleading must have a current physical on file.

  • Hot lunch, grades K-8 and adults -- $1.80

  • Extra milk -- 25 cents per half-pint. Extra milk and milk breaks are not included in the book rental or the hot lunch fees. There will be a milk break each day for students in grades K-4. There will be a maximum of five milk or lunch charges at any given time.

Kindergarten information

Notice of change: Beginning this year New-Holland-Middletown will have a full-day kindergarten, 8:10 a.m.-3:10 p.m. Parents are asked to bring their children on the first day to aid the bus schedule.

Students registering for kindergarten must have a current physical, current shot record on file and bring a copy of their birth certificate at the time of registration. Starting this year, students entering kindergarten are required to have an eye exam completed by a physician or optometrist licensed to examine eyes. Proof of exam must be supplied by Oct. 15. Forms will be available at registration.

Dental exams

All Illinois children in kindergarten, second and sixth grades are required by law to have a dental examination. This must be completed by May 15.
