[August 09, 2008]  (AP)  Showers and thunderstorms were forecast Saturday for the Central Plains. The storms could produce heavy rain, hail, and damaging winds. Meanwhile, a small cold front was expected to move into the Upper Midwest and the Upper Great Lakes, triggering some thunderstorms across that region.

InsuranceRain was forecast for New England, but the rest of the Northeast was expected to be mostly sunny.

Clear skies were forecast for most of the Southeast, though Florida was expecting scattered showers and storms.

A cold front was expected to push onshore in the Pacific Northwest and bring rainy weather.

In the Southwest, California and most of Nevada were expected to remain mostly clear. Rain was forecast for the Four Corners region.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of 37 degrees at Embarrass, Minn., to a high of 119 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
