SPRINGFIELD -- The 50th District
is slated to receive over $34 million in funding from the Illinois
Department of Transportation for several new and ongoing road
improvements, according to Sen. Larry Bomke.

Fiscal 2009 road projects for the 50th District include almost $3.7
million for land acquisition; approximately $27 million for
resurfacing, re-profiling and paving roadways; over $2.1 million for
jurisdictional transfers; $550,000 for bridge work, $l.3 million for
modernization of traffic signals, left- and right-turn lanes, and
culvert replacement; as well as $100,000 for right of way surveys of
land acquisitions and $100,000 for plan preparation of design
surveys. Bomke commented: "I’m pleased with the recent funding
from IDOT, but this in no way undermines the need for a capital
improvement program. The state is in desperate need of this money in
order to improve our roadways and our schools."
