The Department of Commerce and Economic Development has made funds
for these scholarships available to income-eligible individuals of
high academic merit or potential. Applicants are attending an
Illinois college and reside in Fulton, DeWitt, Logan, Mason, Menard
or Piatt County, which are Community Action's six-county service
area.
The recipients are chosen by a scholarship committee on the
governing board of the Community Action Partnership of Central
Illinois.
Kathy Shepherd, Community Action's community service director,
stated, "It was a real challenge for the board members to choose the
recipients this year because the applicants were so academically
qualified and deserving of this educational grant. Community Action
wishes all the scholarship recipients good luck in their future
academic endeavors."
Community Action serves low-income residents and seniors of
central Illinois in many capacities, including the community service
program, energy assistance, weatherization services, senior
nutrition and transportation, homemaker program, foster
grandparents, a revolving small business loan program, and Head
Start. For more information, visit
