[August 29, 2008]  The Y Biking Blast is coming next weekend! On Sept. 6 the YMCA will host its first Biking Blast for novices, families and the experienced cyclist. The Y will provide a well-marked five-mile course for families and novices and a 30-mile course for the cycling enthusiast. Drinks and snacks will be provided for all participants. Come for a day of family fun and fitness. Visit or contact the YMCA for more details.

Preschool Play Center programs begin Sept. 8. Register your 4-5-year-old child for "Preschool Play Days," your 3-year-old child for "Friends and Fun," and your 24-36-month-old for "Toddler & Me" (parent) program. Limited space is remaining. Program information is available online and at the Y office.

Contact the Y to reserve your preschooler' s place in the Y Preschool P.E. class. Classes will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. until noon. This exciting program includes calisthenics, relays, fun gym games and character development.

Lincoln Area YMCA will offer new fitness classes, Hip Hop Dance on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. and Turbo Jam Exercise on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., at the YMCA Activity Center, 719 Wyatt Ave. The classes are scheduled in four-week sessions beginning Sept. 9 through Dec. 18. YMCA member and nonmember rates are offered for each of these programs as well as a discount for registering for both programs. Visit the Y office and pick up a brochure about these new programs.

Y Biddy Ball registration will begin on Sept. 5. This program for fun and learning is designed to teach 4-year-olds and kindergartners the basics of basketball while they have a great time. Games will be played on Saturday mornings, beginning Nov. 1.

The Y will kick off its Y Party Nights on Sept. 19 with a sports party for children in second through fourth grade. Watch for more information on these exciting party nights for kids. Fliers with more details will be distributed through local schools.

The next YMCA Special Art Day will be Oct. 13, 9:30-11 a.m., at the YMCA Activity Center. Children in first through sixth grade will learn about and experience special origami projects -- folding paper into animal shapes and other objects.

School's Out Fun Days will be offered throughout the 2008-2009 school year. The first one scheduled is Oct. 13, from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registration forms will be available in mid-September. Visit www.lincolnymca.org for dates, times, fees and location.
