Stuntman to talk about Empire State Building caper

[December 01, 2008]  NEW YORK (AP) -- A daredevil who tried to jump off the Empire State Building is dropping by a New York City courthouse to testify about his antics.

Former television stunt show host Jeb Corliss was arrested on the landmark's 86th-floor observation deck in April 2006 after he climbed over a guardrail while wearing a parachute and a helmet with a video camera attached.

Prosecutors say Corliss endangered people because he was reckless enough to try such a stunt at the 102-story Manhattan building.

Corliss' lawyer says he wasn't reckless because he's an expert who's done more than 1,000 safe jumps.

The lawyer says Corliss will testify Monday about the events leading up to his attempted jump and his arrest.

Corliss faces a year in jail if convicted of reckless endangerment.
