[December 01, 2008]  (AP)  Wintry weather was expected across the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and the Northeast on Monday. Lake-effect snow showers were forecast for the Great Lakes and the Northeast. Michigan, eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois were to be under a winter storm warning until 4 p.m. Drivers traveling throughout the Great Lakes and Northeast were urged to drive with caution due to slick roads, blowing snow and lowered visibility.

HardwareA mix of rain and snow showers was forecast for portions of the Southeast. Cold winds from the Southwest were to bring lower temperatures and snow showers across the Tennessee Valley. Meanwhile, scattered rain showers with isolated thunderstorms were expected across the southern tip of Florida.

The West was to be mostly dry on Monday. The Rockies were to see light, diminishing snow showers throughout the afternoon. Meanwhile, light scattered showers were forecast for the Pacific Northwest.

Temperatures were to be in the 30s and 40s in the Northeast, 40s to 70s in the Southeast, 40s to 60s in the Northwest, and 70s and 80s in the Southwest.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Sunday ranged from a low of 3 degrees at Grayling, Mich., to a high of 87 degrees at Thermal, Calif.
