[December 08, 2008]  WARSAW, Poland (AP) -- The Dalai Lama says conditions in Tibet have "not improved at all" since the Olympics Games in Beijing.

InsuranceThe Tibetan spiritual leader says that since demonstrations earlier this year against Beijing's rule in Tibet "the Chinese government carried (out) immense sort of suppression."

He says "some arrests still continue."

The demonstrations against Chinese rule in March exploded into violence in the Tibetan capital of Lhasa. China then launched a massive crackdown in which Tibetan exile groups say at least 140 people died and more than 1,000 people have been detained.

The Dalai Lama was speaking Monday in the Polish city of Krakow, where he received the Honoris Causa doctorate from Jagiellonian University.
