[December 18, 2008]  NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Country singer Mindy McCready was hospitalized after an apparent suicide attempt, police said.

McCready's brother discovered she had cut her wrists and taken several pills at her home Wednesday, a police report said. Timothy McCready told police his 33-year-old sister had been "very intoxicated" after a night out.

A hospital spokeswoman says the singer is in stable condition. McCready attorney Lee Ofman said he did not have details about the situation.

In October, McCready was released after about 30 days in jail for violating probation on a 2004 drug charge.

McCready, who said she had a romantic relationship with former baseball star Roger Clemens as a teenager, has struggled with legal and personal problems that included previous suicide attempts.
