Gov. Blagojevich to make statement

[December 19, 2008]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is going to make a statement to the media at his downtown Chicago office building.

His office says the statement is set for Friday afternoon. It would be the embattled governor's first substantial public comments since his arrest last week on federal corruption charges.

Prosecutors say FBI wiretaps caught Blagojevich scheming to deal President-elect Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat for campaign cash or a plum job.

Blagojevich has told reporters that he was looking forward to talking with them about the allegations.
