Bob Graue/Graue Inc. Recognized as Friend of Extension

New Master Gardeners Graduate

[February 01, 2008]  Bob Graue/Graue, Inc. has been named a Friend of Extension for the many ways he, and the company, have supported University of Illinois Extension programs through the years. Bob has served as a council member, council chairman, executive council chairman and has been a Master Gardener since the early 1980s.  [Pictured are Bob (left) and Chris Graue of Graue Inc.]

Bob and Graue Inc. were recognized at the annual Master Gardener meeting and dinner.

Bob was also instrumental in the Focus on the Future series conducted by Extension during the 1980s, which helped with the writing of the overall economic development plan for Logan County.

He is an avid Master Gardener and has been instrumental in many of the projects undertaken by the group. He has been strongly involved in the garden walk programs, school programming, park beautification programs, community beautification programs and other efforts.

Other contributions of Graue Inc. have included the sponsorship of specific programs, such as the garden walk, a high school youth scholarship awarded by the 4-H Foundation, board membership on the 4-H Foundation board and other contributions too numerous to mention.

Graduating Master Gardeners recognized

Recent graduates of the University of Illinois Master Gardener program in Logan County were recognized for completing their internship period of 60 hours of volunteer service. Graduates were Lynn Lewis, Grace Wibben, Russell Funderburg, Judy Funderburg, Doug Fink and Sandy Gulso.

Master Gardeners are required to attend intensive training, pass a detailed exam and provide 60 hours of community service in order to attain the Master Gardener title. Continuing Master Gardeners provide 30 hours of community service annually and participate in 10 hours of continuing education activities each year.

Logan County currently has a total of 48 Master Gardeners and interns who provide community service through group-sponsored projects and individual educational initiatives.
