It's February. So Why Are the Christmas Decorations Downtown Still Up

Send a link to a friend

[February 05, 2008]  "Why are those Christmas decorations still up around downtown Lincoln?" some people are asking. Main Street Lincoln director Wanda Lee said that she has been getting a number of phone calls asking just that.

The answer is simple. The holiday decorations are put up through the efforts of the city street department. The decorations are also taken down by the city street department, Rohlfs said.

Rohlfs said on Monday: "Due to the various bad weather situations that we have had since December, it is difficult for the street employees to take care of the snow and ice and also take down Christmas decorations. We hope that people will be patient, and the greenery, lights and bows will come down as soon as possible."

Given the latest flooding and the inclement forecast yet this week, it might not be all too soon.
