Oasis Update

[February 13, 2008]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Oasis potluck and bingo

Join us at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for the monthly potluck, featuring vegetable soup and chili with salads, special dishes and desserts. There is no charge for food or beverage provided at this event. If you do not bring a dish to pass and wish to make a donation, the suggested amount is $3. Stay for bingo games sponsored by Christian Village. The monthly drawing is sponsored by Ayerco Convenience Center.

Free tax assistance

The Oasis is offering free tax assistance on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Please call 732-6132 for an appointment.

Illinois Cares Rx and Circuit Breaker

Remember, you must continue to file the 1363 application for the Illinois Cares Rx and Circuit Breaker each year. If you need assistance, please call the senior center for an appointment at 732-6132. All assistance is provided free to anyone requesting assistance.

Tuesday lunch

There will be no Tuesday lunch Feb. 19 due to a Valentine tea. The regular schedule will resume the following week.

Bingo at the Rec

Computer special for Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Rec Center on Feb. 19: Buy any size computer at their regular price and get the second one of equal value for half price. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird is 6:50 p.m.

Bunco winners

The bunco winner for most wins was Marjorie Reiners, and Dorothy Oltmanns had the most buncos. Congratulations!
