[February 19, 2008]  Monday night at approximately 11:25, a single-vehicle personal injury crash occurred on Illinois Route 10 at Mason County Road 900N.

Robert W. Deavers, 52, of Lincoln and his passenger, Rebecca A. Stewart, 29, of Jacksonville were traveling eastbound on Route 10 at Mason County Road 900N in a white 1991 Dodge pickup truck. Deavers traveled off the roadway to the right, overcorrected and traveled across the westbound lane before leaving the roadway to the left. The vehicle then struck a ditch and overturned in a muddy cornfield on the north side of the roadway.

Deavers was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Both Deavers and Stewart were transported to Springfield Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Assisting agencies were Mason County Sheriff's Department, Mason City Fire Department and Mason City Ambulance Service.

Deavers was issued citations for driving while under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and failing to wear a seat belt.

The public is reminded that anyone is presumed innocent until the charges are proven in a court of law.
