[February 21, 2008]  CHICAGO -- Statement from Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna on the governor's budget address:

"It is clear today the Republican Party's message of change for Illinois is being heard loud and clear, but unfortunately Rod Blagojevich seems to be the only person not listening.

"True tax reform must be permanent, and true spending reform must promote transparency to end pay-to-play politics. Short-term fixes and political gimmicks will not solve our state's serious fiscal problems.

"Actions do speak louder than words, and Illinois families have experienced six years of Democratic control that has produced mostly words and little action.

"If politicians are serious about change for Illinois, then Democrats who control our state must begin addressing the long-term problems they themselves have created."
