Bus Carrying High School Students Struck Near Mason City

[February 21, 2008]  MASON CITY -- Accident report from Illinois State Police:

Date/Time: Feb. 20, 6:14 p.m.

Narrative: A 2006 Dodge truck driven by Timothy R. Clark, 37, of San Jose was traveling on Roosevelt Road eastbound at Illinois 29 in Mason County. Clark stopped at the stop sign at Roosevelt Road and Illinois 29, then continued into the intersection.

An AC Central school bus driven by Timothy D. Richard, 44, of Chanderville was traveling on Illinois 29 northbound through the intersection. The bus carried 31 passengers, mostly high school age.

Clark's Dodge struck the school bus on the driver's side in two locations as it passed by.

There were no injuries in either vehicle.

Agencies assisting at the incident included the Illinois State Police, Mason County Sheriff's Department, and the local fire and rescue department.

Clark was ticketed for failure to yield at a stop sign intersection.

The public is reminded that anyone is presumed innocent until the charges are proven in a court of law.
