Zion Lutheran School Advances to State Basketball Tournament

[February 25, 2008]  Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln has advanced to the Lutheran School Association State Boys Basketball Tournament in Arlington Heights.

The top 16 Lutheran school teams in Illinois will be competing for the Lutheran state championship on Feb. 29 and March 1-2. Teams have qualified for the tournament based upon their records and play-in competitions.

"The boys have worked very hard all season, and it’s a privilege to advance to the state tournament and compete with the best Lutheran teams in Illinois. We look forward to a great experience at state," commented head coach Dan Podbelsek.

Members of the ZLS team participating in the tournament will be Ethan Hartman, Zach Leonard, Matt Roos, Ethan Wibben, Brent Hunsley, Will Podbelsek, Jason Sheley and Austin Leonard. Coaches are Dan Podbelsek, Brian Fuiten, and Jay Sheley.
