Oasis Update

[February 27, 2008]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

Bingo sponsored by St. Clara's Manor

St. Clara's Manor will sponsor the bingo games Thursday at The Oasis. The action starts at 1 p.m.

Illinois Cares Rx and Circuit Breaker

Reminder: You must continue to file the 1363 application for Illinois Cares Rx and Circuit Breaker each year. If you need assistance, please call the senior center for an appointment at 732-6132.

Meeters and Greeters

The Meeters and Greeters group will meet at the senior center on Monday, beginning at 2 p.m. This group of volunteers visits once a month with people who cannot get out, adding a bright spot in their life. If you would like to participate or would like more information, please call 732-6132.

Oasis Belles

The Oasis Red Hat group will meet on Tuesday, beginning at 11 a.m. After the meeting, lunch is available for purchase. Please call for a reservation at 732-6132.

Hearing screening test

Free hearing screening tests will be available March 5 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the senior center. The service is provided by Joyce Dearth, B.C.H.I.S., from the Hearing Aid Center. Service is by appointment only. Call 732-6132.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch menu for March 4 is salmon casserole, garlic bread, salad and dessert. Suggested donation is $3.75, or if you stay to play cards, the cost is $3.25. Reservation deadline is noon Monday.

Bingo at the Rec

For Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Rec Center, the computer special is to buy a $16 computer and get a $12 computer free. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird is 6:50 p.m.

Card winners

The winners for weekday pinochle were Henry Warnisher, Lucky Eichner, Linda Hughes and Mina Bradburn. The weekend pinochle winners were Helen Opperman, Wally Reifsteck, Les Van Bibber and Kathy Roos. The winners at 5-in-1 were Dorothy Oltmanns and Ruth Barry. Congratulations.
