Debbie Ackerman, R.N., B.S.N., pain management
service coordinator and surgical staff nurse, has been honored as
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital's February Employee of the Month.
|
Ackerman began her career as a licensed practical nurse on the
surgical care floor in 1975 and later transferred to surgery. She
entered Mennonite School of Nursing to pursue her degree in nursing
and is grateful for Dr. Edward Ulrich, who encouraged her to keep
going when workloads were tough. In 1998, she began working
part-time in the pain management service and has since become the
coordinator.
A patient nominated Ackerman for her compassion and kindness,
testifying: "Debbie treats everyone with such respect, dignity,
concern and care. It makes a patient feel like a real person again.
One can tell she genuinely cares about her patients and what she
does."
Ackerman says that nursing is a rewarding, wide-open field. "With
a degree in nursing, one can find their niche in all aspects of
health care. Plus, making someone's life better is a terrific
feeling."
ALMH employs more than 250 in a wide variety of job functions. A
different employee is honored each month for their commitment to
creating great patient experiences, getting great results and making
ALMH a great place to work.
