Preachers and Angels Fall to Eureka

[February 27, 2008]  EUREKA -- The Lincoln Christian College basketball teams played at Eureka on Tuesday.

Preachers

The Lincoln Christian College Preachers ended their regular-season play losing to the Red Devils of Eureka College 88-72.

The 8-19 Preachers placed three in double figures: Jon Wallace, 19 points and nine rebounds; Josiah Brock, 19 points, 7 rebounds; and Adam Everett, 11 points.

The Red Devils of Eureka placed five in double figures, led by Matt McComb and Mark Darnall with 17 points each.

After trailing by six (43-37) at the half, the Preachers were outscored 45-35 in the second period. LCC shot 52 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Red Devils 33-29.

The Preachers will now be heading to Grand Rapids, Mich., for the NCCAA Midwest Regional Playoffs.

Angels

The Angels of Lincoln Christian College shot a cold 26.4 percent in dropping their final season game to the Red Devils of Eureka College 68-33.

Kim Kersey led the LCC scoring with nine points, shooting 3-for-4 from 3-point distance. Jessica Blythe contributed six points and six rebounds, and Emma Hanford had five points and eight rebounds.

Eureka was led by Brittany Gardner with 27 points, and she received help from Nicole Fisher with 15 points and 22 rebounds. Fisher set a career rebound record of 892.

The 2-26 Angels are now heading for Dubuque, Iowa, for the NCCAA Midwest Regional Playoffs.
