[January 05, 2008]
Hopefully everyone had a wonderful Christmas
and enjoyed a great start to 2008. Now is the time to keep those New
Year's resolutions. If it involves health and fitness, our Indoor
Sports Center offers three membership levels for your fitness goals.
Entry level allows you to use our track and courts; mid-level is a
circuit membership; or the top-of-the-line full access provides free
weights, cardio equipment, sauna and court space. Call Christine
with your questions and get a price quote. Remember, the more you
use your membership, the less expensive it becomes -- sometimes just
pennies a day!

Dancing Ballroom dance lessons are on the docket once
again. This popular and fun class is offered again by Mike and Julie
Bieser. These two have taught with us for a number of years and it
is obvious how much they enjoy sharing their talent. Bring your
partner and both left feet and we'll have you dancing like the stars
this Valentine's Day. A variety of different dance steps will be
taught. Wear slick-soled shoes and comfortable clothing. We will
start on a Sunday afternoon, Jan. 20, from 2 to 3. Cost of this
four-week course is $50 per couple in district, and registration is
open to young adults and up.
Tennis
It is also time to dust off that tennis racquet. Julie Harris
Larson, our tennis instructor, will be offering lessons for kids
through adults. She began playing as a youngster, and in her high
school years she led the Railers to the honor of being Big 12
champions for four years, No. 1 in singles and doubles play four
years, and in the state tournament four years while achieving fifth
place in the state. She was ranked No. 1 in central Illinois her
entire competitive career.

Tennis players will be divided by age divisions. Lessons are
tailored for the beginners to intermediate skill levels. Instruction
includes drills focusing on forehand and backhand, lobbing, and drop
shots, as well as basic instruction on serve and strategy. Classes
will be on Sunday afternoons for four weeks, beginning Jan. 20.
Kindergarten to second grade will meet from 1 to 1:45 p.m.; third to
fifth grade, 2-3 p.m.; sixth to eighth grade, 3-4 p.m.; and adults,
4-5 p.m. There will be a minimum of four students for each session
or sessions may be combined. Cost is $40 per participant in
district.
