BLOOMINGTON -- Sen. Bill Brady, R-Bloomington,
will run for re-election to the Illinois Senate, citing the
unfinished business in Springfield of protecting Illinois taxpayers,
restoring fiscal responsibility to state budgeting and building a
strong economic climate that fosters job growth and business
expansion.

"I am proud to be a voice in Springfield for the citizens of the
44th District, and I want to continue to work to find even greater
ways to help them cope with the challenges they face and to help
resolve the challenges we face as a state," Brady said. Brady said
he is proud to have led efforts to defeat the governor's gross
receipts tax and payroll tax on business, to reform the state's
health care industry, to end the pay-to-play politics of the current
administration, to protect children from sexual predators, to
encourage the use of alternative energy sources, to provide
scholarships for children of veterans of the war in Iraq, and to
improve highway safety by requiring more training for our youngest
drivers.
"But my work is not done," he said. "Our citizens still suffer
high property taxes with no relief. The state's pension system is
still the worst in the nation, and the state's job creation record
is miserable. So I am seeking re-election in 2008 to continue
working for the people I represent. I want to continue serving them,
to work to bring jobs back to Illinois, and to bring fiscal
responsibility and common sense back to Illinois government."

Brady, who chaired a Senate Republican task force on reforming
state regulations on new health care facilities, also said he will
continue to work to ensure that quality health care is available in
high-growth areas of Illinois and to foster investment in health
care facilities.
Brady has represented the 44th District, including portions of
McLean, Sangamon, Macon, Tazewell, Logan, DeWitt and Christian
counties, since 2002. A former member of the House of
Representatives, between 1993 and 2001, he is the ranking Republican
on the Senate Insurance and Pensions committees and also serves on
the Senate Revenue and Public Health committees. He is also a member
of the General Assembly's Commission on Government Accountability
and Forecasting.
