[January 12, 2008]  State Rep. Bill Mitchell has approximately 300 light bulbs to give away. As part of an initiative by Ameren Corp., compact fluorescent light bulbs were distributed to lawmakers to be given away to constituents. Mitchell will be in Lincoln on Monday to distribute the fluorescent bulbs from 11 a.m. to noon in the first floor courtroom at the Logan County Courthouse.

"Anyone who would like to receive one of these light bulbs can come to the courthouse and pick one up," Mitchell said. "These light bulbs provide a 75 percent energy savings compared to regular bulbs and could result in a savings of $36 over the life of the bulb. Energy efficiency is very important these days, and these light bulbs are one small step people can take to reduce their electrical consumption.

Mitchell added that senior citizens would receive first priority for the energy-efficient light bulbs.
