[January 15, 2008]  (AP) Snow expected in the Appalachians and Pennsylvania could reach the Atlantic Coast on Tuesday but will probably turn to rain.

Maine may also have lingering snow showers.

More snow is likely in the Northern Rockies, with the heaviest expected across Idaho and Montana. Accumulating snow is possible as far south as northern Colorado.

Southern Texas is expected to get steady rain.

Temperatures across the country are expected to be mostly moderate to warm on Tuesday, except in the Northeast. California can expect a positively balmy day.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a low of minus 29 degrees at Gunnison, Colo., to a high of 78 degrees at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
