Georgetown Fair Queen Crowned 2008 Miss Illinois County Fair

Molly Reeves Will Reign Over 2008 Illinois and DuQuoin State Fairs

[January 22, 2008]  SPRINGFIELD -- On Sunday evening, Agriculture Director Chuck Hartke crowned Miss Georgetown Fair Molly Reeves as the 2008 Miss Illinois County Fair Queen.

Reeves, of Danville, is the daughter of Susan Willaman and Art Reeves. She is currently pursuing a degree in art and fashion design at Illinois College in Jacksonville and hopes to create her own clothing line someday and donate a percentage of her profits to charity.

"The young ladies who participated in the pageant are bright, talented individuals who represented their counties well," Hartke said. "I want to congratulate Molly on being crowned the 2008 queen, and I look forward to working with her this year to promote Illinois agriculture."

As Miss Illinois County Fair Queen, Reeves will reign over the 2008 Illinois State Fair, Aug. 8-17, and the DuQuoin State Fair, Aug. 23-Sept. 1.

"I am truly honored to be named Miss Illinois County Fair," Reeves said. "This is a tremendous opportunity for me to travel the state, promote Illinois agriculture and grow as a person. I would like to thank the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs, the Department of Agriculture and everyone who has supported me throughout this competition."

The judges selected Miss Union County Fair, Kate Winzenburger of Cobden, as first runner-up. Miss Effingham County Fair, Lauren Hoffman of Effingham, was named second runner-up. The remaining nine finalists were Miss Williamson County Brittni Dunning, Miss Knox County Jayla Landon, Miss Champaign County Kayla Zacholski, Miss Richland County Jenna Cazel, Miss Calhoun County Kimberly Klunk, Miss Greene County Breanna Lovel, Miss Lawrence County Johnna Thompson, Miss Moultrie-Douglas County Katie Schweighart and Miss Clay County Julia Wendling.

Non-finalist competition awards were presented to Miss Lake County Fair, Heather Callan of Libertyville, for best interview; Miss Macon County Fair, Emily Beck of Decatur, for best communication skills; Miss Clinton County Fair, Savahna Voss of Germantown, for best stage presence; and Miss Warren County Fair, Brenna Kesinger of Monmouth, for beauty and physique. The Ruby Crum Memorial Award for charm and enthusiasm was presented to Miss Clay County Fair, Julia Wendling of Louisville.

The Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant was held at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield as part of the annual convention of the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs. This was the 49th year of the IAAF pageant, and more than 67 contestants participated in the event.
