[January 26, 2008]  (AP) Extremely wet weather was expected to continue Saturday for California as a low pressure system off the coast thrusts a tremendous amount of Pacific moisture inland. The heaviest precipitation was forecast for coastal areas north of the San Francisco Bay. Several inches of new snow was possible in higher elevations.

Snow was also forecast for parts of Utah and Colorado.

Heavy rain was expected in parts of the Southeast. Icy conditions were forcast for the Tennessee Valley.

Snow was expected to develop throughout the Great Lakes region.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Friday ranged from a low of minus 34 degrees at Tower, Minn., to a high of 77 degrees at Marathon, Fla.
