[January 28, 2008]  The Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce invites individuals with a shared interest in improving bicycling conditions in Logan County to attend the organizational meeting of the Logan County Bike Trails Advisory Council. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fitness Balance, 125 N. Sangamon St. in Lincoln.

Dale Bassi of Bassi Construction will serve as chairman of the task force. The meeting is open to the public. Participants will pool ideas and resources to establish a plan for developing off-road bike paths. Attending the meeting in no way obligates a participant to continue an active role with the council.

"We have some catching up to do here in Logan County," says Bassi, a local bike enthusiast. "Most communities are ahead of us in this area. Bike paths improve a community's quality of life, and they are a draw for recreational tourism. They also promote physical fitness."

People interested may call the chamber of commerce, 735-2385, for more information.
