A strong cold front over
northwest Illinois at midmorning will move rapidly southeast,
reaching Interstate 55 by midday and moving southeast of Interstate
70 by 4 p.m. Winds will shift to the northwest and increase to 25 to
35 mph with gusts to 45 mph. |
A wind advisory remains in effect until midnight for the counties of
Logan, DeWitt, Piatt, Champaign, Vermilion, Cass, Menard, Scott,
Morgan, Sangamon, Christian, Macon, Moultrie, Douglas, Coles, Edgar,
Shelby, Cumberland, Clark, Effingham, Jasper, Crawford, Clay,
Richland and Lawrence, including the cities of Lincoln, Champaign,
Urbana, Danville, Jacksonville, Springfield, Taylorville, Decatur,
Charleston, Mattoon, Shelbyville, Effingham, Flora and Lawrenceville
West winds are expected to develop and increase to 30 to 35 mph with
a few gusts as high as 50 mph Tuesday afternoon.
A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph are
expected, with gusts of over 45 mph. Winds this strong can make
driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra
caution.
