Hilda Gallagher

[July 11, 2008]  Hilda P. Gallagher, 74, of Lincoln died Thursday, July 10, 2008, at 9:41 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Peasley Funeral Home. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rob Roy officiating.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Gallagher worked in retail sales and management for Super X and Haag Drug stores, in the fabric department of Wal-Mart, and at the Lincoln College Bookstore.

She was born Feb. 16, 1934, in Erwin, Tenn., to James C. and Mary Edith Wachter Allen. She first married William Reckrodt, who died on Sept. 22, 1958. She then married Franklin "Frank" D. Gallagher in Springfield on July 28, 1961; he preceded her in death on June 8, 1997.

She is survived by one son, Jeff Gallagher; two daughters, Michele "Mitzi" (and Ronald) Rohlfs of Lincoln and Laural (and Corey) Sutton of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Marty Montcalm, Matthew Montcalm, Courtney Sutton, Ryan Michele Rohlfs, Craig Rohlfs and Jori Buckles; and two great-grandchildren: Kaleb Franklin and Amie Ladage.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln. She served as a Girl Scout leader and in the PTA.

Funeral Director

She was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed crafts and sewing. She also took pleasure in traveling and vacationing with family.

Memorials may be made to The Oasis senior center, St. Clara's Manor or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
