[July 15, 2008]  GALLUP, N.M. (AP) -- Police in New Mexico say three people were crushed to death by a boulder during a rock slide.

Gallup police Lt. Rick White says he thinks the victims were sleeping Friday when the slide occurred. The area where they were found is known as a place for homeless people to camp.

The victims could not be identified because their bodies are still trapped under the boulder.

Heavy rain stopped recovery efforts. Gallup public works director Stan Henderson says crews will try to move the boulder on Tuesday.
