Oasis update

[July 16, 2008]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

CivicExtension to sponsor bingo

The Logan County Extension Unit will sponsor the bingo games at The Oasis on Thursday, beginning at 1 p.m.

Alzheimer's support group to meet

The Alzheimer support group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday in the library at the senior center. No reservations are necessary. The group provides support and information for caregivers and extended family and is facilitated by a coordinator from Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Memories class

The Memories class will meet at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the senior center's library. Participants are asked to bring their own pen and paper to learn skills needed to preserve memories for families and friends.

Auto Repair

Oasis board meeting

The Oasis board of directors will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday. The meeting is open to the public. To schedule any agenda items, the board must receive notification in writing on or before the fifth day of the month prior to a meeting date.

July birthdays

Birthday time! July birthdays will be celebrated at the senior center on Monday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Come enjoy the entertainment, cake and ice cream.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for July 22 will feature tuna salad stuffed tomatoes, crackers and cheese, and fresh fruit. The suggested donation is $3.75. If you stay and play cards, the cost of the meal is $3.25. The deadline to make a reservation is noon Monday.

Bingo at the Rec

The special for Tuesday night bingo at the Lincoln Rec Center is "Two for One." Buy one $20 computer and get the second free. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird is at 6:50.

Card winners

The winner for weekday pinochle was Ann Hedrick. The weekend winners were Marjorie Reiners and Lucky Eichner.
