Lincoln police advise homeowners avoid confronting burglars

Send a link to a friend

[August 04, 2008]  Over the past few weeks the Lincoln Police Department has received numerous reports of thefts from vehicles, garages, sheds and residences. These thefts and burglaries usually occur between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Nearly all occur due to unlocked vehicles, garages, sheds and homes. There have been entries into occupied homes during the night. This can present a dangerous situation for residents. To date there have not been any confrontations during the burglaries.

DonutsCitizens should lock the doors to their vehicles, garages, sheds and homes.

In the event you believe an intruder is in your home, immediately call 911. If possible, do not confront the intruder. Remain quiet and await the arrival of police. When possible, obtain a description of the intruder, including clothing, and any suspicious vehicles.

Watch out for your neighbor and report any suspicious individuals or vehicles in your neighborhood.

To reach the Lincoln Police Department, call 732-2151 or 911.
