Lincoln Fire Department Chief
Kent Hulett arrived at Tuesday night’s city council meeting a few
minutes late and looking doused. During report time he said that
they had to conduct "another" evacuation at the Logan County
Fairgrounds when the evening’s storm swept through about 6:30. There
were a few minor injuries, cuts and scrapes in nature, while getting
people into buildings for safety. Winds of 55-60 mph downed tents
and left the southern portion of the county without power, he said.

Hulett continued with storm safety advice. He said that the storm
siren on top of City Hall is out of service. He said that sirens are
intended to warn people who are outside and may not be heard if you
are inside a home or building. He recommended that citizens not rely
on outdoor sirens only, but should listen to or watch weather
channels when threatening weather occurs. Documented storm reports
included 70 mph winds at Elkhart, wind damage and a tree down near
Beason causing power outage. Also, Mount Pulaski was without power
Tuesday evening.
More thunderstorms are possible today.
