Governor's statement on passage of transit bill

[June 02, 2008]  SPRINGFIELD -- The following statement from Gov. Rod R. Blagojevich was released Saturday regarding Senate passage of a bill expanding free transit services to disabled seniors:

"I congratulate the General Assembly for building on our successful Seniors Ride Free program by expanding it to people with disabilities. I look forward to signing the bill and giving 275,000 more Illinoisans the ability to maintain their independence and ride fixed route transit for free."

Senate Bill 1920 passed by a 55-1 vote.
