[June 07, 2008]  (AP)  Severe thunderstorms were expected in the Great Lakes region on Saturday, with heavy rain, strong winds and hail likely.

Severe thunderstorms were also forecast for the Mid-Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley.

Warmer temperatures were expected for the eastern portion of the country to the Central Plains.

The Northeast was to see showers and thunderstorms.

The Mid-Atlantic was to see temperatures exceeding 90 degrees, much warmer than normal.

The Southeast was also to be hot.

In the West, temperatures were to dip, but the area was to remain dry.

Rain showers and high altitude snow showers were expected in the Pacific Northwest, with cooler than normal temperatures expected throughout the weekend.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Friday ranged from a low of 21 degrees at Copper Mountain, Colo., to a high of 111 degrees at Jackson, Wyo.
