[June 10, 2008]  The Logan County coroner, Robert Thomas, was contacted before lunch Monday when the body of a young female was found near Hartsburg. Railroad workers discovered the body along Interstate 155, near the Canadian National railroad tracks.

Thomas advised that the Tazewell County Sheriff's Department is handling the case, with the evidence being gathered by crime scene technicians from the Illinois State Police. Thomas is involved since the body was discovered in Logan County. However, law enforcement officials reportedly believe this may have been a crime that would have occurred in Tazewell County, possibly days earlier.

Although no identification has been made, authorities have suspended a search for a Mackinaw woman who was reported missing on Friday. (Woman's body found near Hartsburg)

An autopsy is being performed Tuesday in Peoria to help with identification, as well as cause of death.
