WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Ray
LaHood, R-Peoria, announced on Feb. 20 the nominees from the 18th
Congressional District to the United States military academies.

The congressman nominated these students for attendance at the
mentioned academies after a highly competitive application and
interview process. Final determination on admission is made by the
individual academy.
The process is not political and applicants do not have to
personally know their congressman to be nominated. Graduates receive
a bachelor’s degree, and most are commissioned as the lowest rank
for a commissioned officer in each of the branches of the military.
Andrew Brown of Lincoln has been nominated for acceptance to the
Air Force Academy. He is the son of Scott Brown and Thi Baughman and
is a senior at Lincoln Community High School in Lincoln.
